Project Life Week 28

So here is the other week I haven't posted yet.  This was the week we didn't do much because I was too emotionally tired, but it's funny how it started out where I didn't think I was going to have much in the way of pictures for the week ended up plenty of pictures and video too.

Project Life 27

I'm not behind on my Project Life, I'm just behind on posting about it.  Last week was long and I was mentally tired pretty much every night and not in the mood to post even though everything was ready.  It's not that we were doing much of anything, it's just that work is really busy and stressful right now. I worked several extra long days and even had to move a vacation day to another week because I just couldn't fit the planned one into last week.  If that wasn't enough, one co-worker and friend is going through a rough divorce after 35+ years of marriage and another colleague and friend was in his final days.  We all have known for a while that it was just a matter of time, but it's hard to watch someone you like and respect wasting away in front of you.  It was harder to realize that the last time I talked to him was just some quick colleague kind of one-manager-to-another conversation about a shared support staff.  Looking back, I so wish I had taken the time say something more at the time, but, I had no idea we were so close to the end.  Fortunately, a few weeks back I took a moment to e-mail him to let him know how much I liked, respected and looked up to him.  But that didn't make starting out the week with the announcement at the manager's meeting that he was in "a deep sleep" and it was only a matter of days any easier.  It pretty much just sent me into a funk.

But now I'm back in my crafting room and working to get posts up.  So here's week 27 using a mixture of Basic Grey's Hey Boy, Hey Girl, and Hey You lines.  I'm nearing the end of these materials and have been thinking about what I want to do when it's time for some new supplies.  I've been thinking about subscribing to a kit club such as the one from Studio Calico or Citrus Twist, but I'm just not sure yet what I'm going to do.  I had a bit of a bad experience with a kit club a few years back and just not sure about giving it a try again, but I like the idea of having a bit of change to mix things up.

Project Life Week 26

Wow, it's hard to believe it's been a half a year already, that I've stuck with Project Life and that I'm not behind.  I'm going to start the next week in a whole new book too because the one I have isn't going to be big enough for the whole year and it looks perfect the way it is.  So I finished off the last layout in the book with the Basic Grey Hey Boy, Hey Girl and Hey You papers and embellishments, along with one cut file resized from the Silhouette Store and a journaling card made from the Journal It set from My Creative Time.  For this week, I have a number of videos that I included using QR codes.  I really love being able to include those.

Project Life Week 25

It's so funny that I can have a long weekend with a couple of days to myself and still not manage to get much done?  I did finish getting my stamp sets in their new plastic bags.  I did get the upstairs and most of the downstairs vacuumed.  I think I maybe did two loads of laundry.  I thought I would spend more time crafting, but I barely managed to finish this week's and last week's Project Life.   But it was an enjoyable weekend.  I think maybe a long quiet weekend was exactly what I needed to recover from the last few weeks of go, go, go.

So for my layout, I used the Basic Grey Hey You, Hey Boy and Hey Girl lines along with a piece of paper from the Travel Stack by DCWV.  here's my layout for Week 25:

2 Adorable Girls

Here's the second of the extra layouts for week 23 - this time from the party for Rayna.  I managed to capture a shot with my two beautiful nieces together.  So I had it printed in a larger size to be the focal point and used Sketch # 105 from Sketch Savvy as my inspiration.  Since it's going into my Project Life book, I decided to keep my trend of using the paper I used for that week, which for right now is Basic Grey's Hey You along with elements from the Hey You, Hey Boy and Hey Girl lines.  I used the coordinating alphabet, a chipboard piece and random number 2 that I found in my stash.  I also raided my stash for some pearls from Want 2 Scrap, 2 brads and piece of 12 x 12 kraft card stock.

You Are My Sunshine

For Week 23, I needed two additional layouts:  one for Rayna's graduation ceremony and a second for her graduation party.  I started with three photos of Rayna holding her various certificates and another photo of her with her teacher.  I was inspired by Sketch #105 from Sketch Savvy for this layout.  I cut apart a card from Basic Grey's Hey You Snippets pad to have a little bit of a decoration on each side of the vertical strip of photos.  Then I matted the picture with her teacher on a piece of paper from the 6x6 Hey You paper pad.  I found a piece of chipboard that was perfect for the title and then added a little washi tape here and there.  The only thing that makes me a little sad is that I had some issues with my Sakura Glaze pen when I added my journaling.  Also (true confession), I got it all a little crooked and it was driving me crazy, so I cut it down to mat the whole piece on a piece of DCWV card stock to finish it off.

Here's how it looks in place in my book:

Project Life Week 24

Week 24 went together very quickly.  I find that using products from the same line means I spend less time trying to look for things that match.  About the most time consuming part is finding ink that matches or coordinates when I use stamps.  Plus, this week I added text to a photo before printing it for the first time.  I'll definitely be doin

g more of that.

Project Life Week 23

I've had this done for over a week, but I just never got around to taking photos.  Probably because I know I have to layouts I want to insert, but I haven't gotten around to making them.  So I finally decided to snap some photos of them and once I did, I had too much glare, but I'm just going to live with that.  I'm still using Basic Grey's Hey You, Hey Boy and Hey Girl lines.  The newest thing this week is that I inserted a QR code that links to some video of Chewie playing in a box.  That's kind a fun new feature I'm having fun to play with.

Project Life Week 22

Whoo hoo!  It's hard to believe it's been 22 weeks of 2013 already.  It's almost harder to believe that I'm still caught up this many weeks later.

This week starts the beginning of some new supplies for Project Life.  I've finished up the supplies I had from the Basic Grey Fact line, but I'm still going to be using Basic Grey because Joann's has started carrying the Hey You, Hey Boy and Hey Girl lines.  I bought a bunch of those supplies including the 6x6 pad, the snippets, the washi tape page, and tons of the ephemera packs and some letter stickers.  I'm sure I'll be using these for several weeks to come.

I feel like I say ever week was a busy week or even a crazy busy week, but this last week was just that.  It should have been a nice quiet week.  With Monday as a holiday and two days off I needed to burn at work, I expected to work Tuesday and Thursday and spend the rest of the week in my craft room, but it didn't turn out that way.  Instead I have lots of stories from the week, some that are of the "you just had to be there sort," like why the second level of a parking structure would mean something (and it would for you too when you've parked on the second level of three different parking structures of the same hospital complex in two days).  To accommodate all of that, I used some visible but a lot of hidden journaling.  I also needed on extra insert this week to include a card that my aunt and cousin sent me.  Super cute!

Here's the spread:
