More vinyl...

After a terrible day (forgot my lunch, forgot a co-worker's birthday, found out another former co-worker passed away, a day of back-to-back and double scheduling, sigh), I'm home, not to enjoy my evening, but to watch continuing education videos.  Geez how I hate these things.  I much prefer the in-person version, but unfortunately, my schedule just didn't lend itself to those and I don't want to wait any longer to finish up my ethics credits.  So I'm taking a little break between disc one and disc two to get my blood pumping again.

So I'm just going to share a project I finished up the other night but hadn't quite had the time to upload yet.  I had such fun playing with vinyl last week, that I pulled it back out to re-do my Tony Stewart cup.  After a year of repeated use, it was finally starting to peel.  Plus that was before I started covering vinyl on cups with a clear cover to protect the little pieces.

This cup was made using a SVG I downloaded from Mardenz before she dropped out of sight and an SVG I made myself (and turned into a car tattoo in an earlier post).  The eyes were a piece of cake to do.
The hawk emblem was a bit more complicated.  But I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
Okay, play time over.  Time to watch disc two!

Happy Birthday Zoey and Teresa!

Today is Zoey's 19th birthday!

I cannot believe we are celebrating 19 years.  Where as the time gone?  I would also love to go back to her original vet who said that she probably wouldn't have a normal life expectancy.  I guess the vet was right in one sense:  it's definitely longer than expected!  I used the age calculator on Catster.  Well, actually, I couldn't use the chart because it didn't go that high, so I had to do the math.  It's 24 human years for the first 2 cat years and then 4 human years for every cat year thereafter.  So that makes her 96 in human years!  I guess I'm going to stop questioning every time she walks a little slowly or seems a little stiff after a long nap.  At that age, that definitely seems to be expected.  So happy birthday to my sweet girl.

It's also my cousin Teresa's birthday and so I thought I would share with you the card and tumbler I made her.  She's a big fan of Mickey so I knew I had to do something Disney themed.  I loved this Mickey Mouse Club svg I found and knew it was perfect.  So I made a quick background from the Sizzix dotted flower rings embossing folder and some washi tape from Queen and Company then added the svg cut out on my Cameo.

For the gift, I found this red acrylic tumbler.  Then in the Silhouette Design Studio, I welded three circles together in the iconic mickey shape.  I then added her name in Walt Disney font and cut it out in black vinyl.  It's perfect for her and helps set the stage for her upcoming trip to the big D.  So happy birthday Teresa!

A New Tumbler for Michele...

My darling sister picked up some new acrylic tumblers for me to make her a new cup a while ago.  Okay, so it was a year ago now.  I've thought about doing it a couple of times, but I wasn't sure what to put on it.  So tonight she came over for a Real Housewives marathon. I made her watch in my craft room so I could play on my Silhouette.  I found a flamingo that was perfect and had her pick out a font.  Then I rooted around in my stash of vinyl to find all the right colors for the flamingo and the absolute perfect flecked shiny blue for her name.  A bit of cutting on my machine and her new cup was done.  Yeah!  Now I can cross that off my to do list and stop feeling guilty every time I open the closet in my craft room and see her cup sitting on the shelf.

I can tell she really likes it since she's been drinking out of it as we finished up our marathon.

New Cups Project

Wow, it's so quick and easy to finish a project in my clean craft room.  Okay, who am I kidding?  Really it was a quick and easy project that I pretty much already had mapped out in my head.  You see I have two lovely ladies joining us at work this week for a couple of days to look to see how we can improve our processes or things we think they can do to improve the system we work with.  So I wanted to have a parting gift ready since I'll be popping out early on their last day to give a speech out of town.

I thought what better than personalized cups reminding them of their visit to Oregon?  I used the Silhouette freebie map of the US from a few weeks ago to get the state outline, a heart from some other design I had and little original text in Brush Script.  It cut out like butter (so, so, so love my vinyl from Oh My Crafts!).  No I just have to figure out what to fill them with...

All because of a Starbucks Cup

I saw this post on the Cut by Connie website about making "Starbucks" cups and knew I just had to try it myself. Problem is, those darn clear acrylic tumblers are near impossible to find. I have been to every, and I do mean every, store in town and no one has the clear acrylic tumblers. My dear hubby found this bright blue one and I knew when I saw it that it would be perfect for my sister because this color with pink is one of her most frequently used color combos. But what to do on the cup? Certainly the Starbucks logo no longer made sense and then I got the idea to use a flamingo. Those who know her know how perfect this is:
