Hide and seek

The other night I was happily sleeping on the back of the chair in the living room when I was disturbed by the cries of the furballs. Mommy started calling for them because they will often cry if they are left alone. But this time they didn't come to her calls. So Mommy got up and started searching all over the house. She still didn't find them. She looked outside just in case they had learned to use the kitty door and were stuck outside, but still no furballs. Daddy even got up to look for them. He got out the flashlight and was looking everywhere. We could hear them crying but they couldn't find the furballs. Mommy was freaking out thinking of all the places they could be like under the house (even though the crawlspace doors are all hidden in rooms with closed doors). They started crying very pitifully. Eventually Mommy found them in the closet. They had dashed in there and pushed the door shut behind them, trapping them inside. Now McKenzie and I am smart enough to know how to open the door if we get shut in, but Mommy and Daddy forgot that the furballs are still young and stupid. I just laughed and went back to sleep. It was good joke on Mommy and Daddy.

Oh my goodness, we are so glad that the furballs were all found safe! We have both been trapped in closets before and it's always a relief to be found...and of course, then fed!

You are so right. Mommy even tried to coax us out with stinky goodness when she thought we were just hiding. Of course we couldn't come because we were stuck but then we got the food anyway because she was so relieved we were okay. We've decided to remember this trick when we want extra treatsies in the future.

you're funny kitties! i'm glad your mommy found you...and that you got the treatsies!

btw, zooey, i steal food from mama's plate when she gets up to do something else--like answer the phone or get the salt. then i make a quick snag and an even faster get-away! with practice, you can accomplish the entire task--and begin your feast--by the time your mommy has returned to her chair!

Our human says we are mean too our little furballs too, but they are stupid. But when they cry the humans come running - hmmm - maybe they have something we don't know about... a secret language? of course humans can be weird.

We're glad they were found, but we can imagine what a trial it must be to live with such youngsters. We hope you can teach them some sense, Zoey. They need good cat mentoring.
