Happy Birthday to DMM's Mom and Happy Thanksgiving to all

We want to wish a very happy birthday to DaisyMae Maus' Mom! We love you and hope you and your family have a phenomenal day!

And to all of you out there in the Blogosphere, happy Thanksgiving. We hope you all have someone special to celebrate this day with.

So it being Thursday, we thought we would do a Thursday thirteen of all the things we are thankful for:

1. Our family (of course that goes with out saying).

2. Our friends in the blogosphere and closer to home.

3. That we have a nice house to live in.

4. That we have food on the table, in the fridge and pantry.

5. That we have some money in our pockets and in the bank.

6. That we have jobs.

7. That we are healthy.

8. That both Mommy and Daddy get along with their in-laws and their in-laws all get along with each other (especially since many of them will be here today)

And on the not so serious side:

9. That Cha-ching let Mommy pet him and hold him today.

10. Daddy's thankful that Mommy's doing the all the Christmas shopping.

11. That we have a four-day weekend (well, Daddy may go work for a few hours on Friday).

12. Mommy's thankful that she has most of the Christmas shopping done already and the Christmas cards are ready to go.

and

13. The furballs are thankful that today they'll get turkey and ham today!

Twilight

So Mommy is a fan of the book by Stephanie Meyer. She read it when they were on their cruise a few months back after Daisy Mae Maus' mom mentioned that many of her students had been reading the four books. So when she found out that they had made a movie, she told Daddy they were having a "date" night to see the movie. It was planned for Friday night for months. However, she had to pick her friend Glenda up from her knee surgery (all went well) so she didn't get home until about 6:30 to make it to the 7 p.m. movie. It should have been fine, but, well, apparently she wasn't meant to see the movie last night because the road to their favorite movie theater was backed up from an accident. They were going to be late for the start of the movie and she didn't want to miss the trailer for the new Harry Potter movie. Daddy offered to take her to the late showing, but Mommy had to attend a conference this morning so a late night was out of the question and they called the whole plan off.

She was really disappointed because she had been looking forward to this date night for months! But, as many have told her, when God's shuts a door, He opens a window somewhere. She was hoping to make it home for the 4 p.m. showing today, but that wasn't meant to be either because she didn't get home from the conference in time. She drove slower than usual after avoiding an accident on the freeway when the cars in front of her that slammed on their brakes to avoid a crash that had just occurred in the road ahead. It was the second time that Mommy has had to call 9-1-1 about an accident.

So she was a little stressed by the time she got home tonight. But that was gone when she discovered that Daddy spent the day cleaning - including the light fixture in the breakfast nook that was d-u-s-t-y! Daddy ran her a bubble bath, brought her a glass of wine, watched the news with her (she was on tv tonight) and took her to the 7 p.m. movie. Now that's a good date night. And, no spoiler alert needed here, the movie was far, far better than she ever imagined it would be. The book was good so she really expected the movie to be crappy but she wanted to see it anyway. So boy was she surprised when the movie was really good. In fact, so good that she wanted to see it again, but knew better than to push her luck by dragging Daddy to it for a second showing. So Aunty Michele, finish the book!!! Mommy needs a girl's night out at the movies.

Hunger Strike Ends

I've been on a hunger strike. The beans apparently "ran out" of Temptations. I ask you, what kind of idiot runs out of Temptations? Then they thought they could cover their malfeasance by putting some of the junk they feed the furballs in the name of "treats" on top of my stinky goodness. Did they really think I wouldn't notice that those "treats" weren't Temptations?

Well, I showed them. For three days they put down my bowl with those fake "treats" on top of the stinky goodness. I would smell the fake "Temptations" and then just walk away leaving my food uneaten. Of course the furballs, the little Hoovers they are, would gobble it all up. But I, unlike the furballs, have standards.

The beans begged me to eat. They told me that the store was out of beef Temptations and this was the best they could do. Who do they think they are kidding? I don't care if the store down the street is out of Temptations. I don't care how far out of their way it is to find a store that has them in stock. That's not my problem. I put up with salmon, chicken and dairy versions of Temptations in the past when the store was out of beef. I can show a little mercy, but no Temptations at all is not acceptable! Apparently they finally figured it out and hauled their fannies across town to Petco to get me my beef Temptations. (Mind you this is an old picture because I still haven't forgiven them so I won't cooperate with their attempts at a photo shoot.)

Aah... the joys of stinky goodness sprinkled with Temptations... life is sweet. Then out of the blue, Dad walks in with a package from DaisyMae Maus, my cousin, just packed full of Temptations! What a joyous day! Oh thank you DMM, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Chewie and the cross-stitch

Okay so Mommy has taken forever to finish the cross stitch for her new nephew (who was born several months ago). This thing is a world traveler. It's been to several states over the past ten months she's been working on it (or ignoring the fact that she should be working on it and not playing with paper). So tonight she wanted to take a picture before she mails it off to Aunty Kim. She propped it up on the chair, took a picture and started removing the baby's name and birth details so she could post a picture for the rest of the family to see. While she was doing that, Chewie climbed up and made herself very comfortable, which made a far better picture!Okay so onto the news of the evening. Mommy and Daddy have been trying to have a baby for about three years with no luck. It's become an increasingly sad subject. Mommy hadn't really done anything proactive to find out why they hadn't gotten pregnant. To be honest, she was just enjoying the wonderful life she had. So this year, she finally made the decision to do something about it. Turns out the tests were all okay and indicated that there may be a simple issue that can be resolved with medication. So keep your paws crossed for us. Maybe with some good luck and answered prayers, we may have exciting news in the future.
